Kick fear in the face

If you let your fears remain inside your heart; you will miss greater things.

As a believer we are not called failures, we are called to be victorious in life. I won't forget that line when I attended a conference last 2018. The first speaker greeted us with this challenge, "If you let your fears remain inside your heart; you will miss greater things."

When I was young, I was very shy, and always like to be in my comfort zone. I am afraid to get out of my cage. I remember when my high school teacher chose my essay in our class and commend me for my writing. I started loving poetry more because someone appreciate my work but I was so afraid to join contests and clubs during those times so I didn't even try. When I was in college, we were already required to be in creative writing class and to write some news, articles, poems, and stories. I was very excited always to pass my write-ups to my professor. I wasn't that good at technical writing, I don't even like it because of the necessary terms and rules in grammar but I think creative writing is always for me. It just comes naturally, I just see metaphors around. Then my professor said that I can be a good writer in the near future. Until now, it remains in my mind and in my heart because that person has been in writing for his whole life and did great. I just believe his words and now I couldn't stop.

But there are still many things I am afraid to do when it seems no one believes in me, it seems I can't do it because no one has ever done it. It seems so hard and so big for me. And this morning someone asked a question, "What will you do if you're ten times bolder?"

You will never possess something if you're unwilling to pursue it. You are not supposed to live a safe and guarded life. Sometimes you just create obstacles in your mind. True believers do believe not in what they can do but rely on the power of God thus they are not afraid to try and to fail and to try again. And at times you need to do it afraid because you know God is living in you. You won't lose because He already won. God is bigger than your fears.

He already broke the veil of the impossible. He is the God of the impossible. He strengthens and empowers his children. He works mightily because even in our mistakes God can turn them for our own good.

Kick the fear in the face. I've realized if I can believe those people who are just like me with human capabilities how much more my God who is capable of many things and do not make mistakes. He calls me redeemed, victorious, highly favored, loved, successful, and His child. God is God of promise; His Words are true. Thus, we can walk in obedience even if we don't know what's next because He is certain from the beginning.

Lessons from Pastor Venus, His Life Church

Let us not glide through this world and then slip quietly into heaven, without having blown the trumpet loud and long for Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Let us see to it that the devil will hold thanksgiving service in the hell, when he gets the news of our departure from the field of battle.

C.T. Studd

For the righteous falls seven times and rises again, but the wicked stumble in times of calamity.

Proverbs 24:16

for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved. God will help her when morning dawns.

Psalm 46:5

Why should I fear in times of trouble when the iniquity of those who cheat me surrounds me,

Psalm 49:5

Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers!

Psalm 37:1

No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.

Safe space

May we all pursue what He calls us to do, and may we have the courage to liberate ourselves from the limitations we put into ourselves, from the cages that we build around ourselves, from our own toxicity, pride, and unbelief. May His love be our safe space so we can pursue what He calls us to do with pure intentions and pure hearts. Take heart!
