Listen to advice

It takes a community to grow as a person.

I'm the usual introvert, loud to the person whom I love to be with, and value listening more than talking. But at times, I speak a lot and converse with the people whom I need and who also need me. At times, I also converse with the strangers like those who caught my attention and just ask them about life, particularly the children in the streets. Maybe in another life, I would like to be a documentary reporter, so curious about many things. LOL

I am blessed to be surrounded by good mentors. Ordinary women but did greater impacts on my life. Actually, before I wasn't that attentive when they conversed with me but now that I am growing, their testimonies really inspire and motivate me. One of them is my mother, she never talked a lot nor brag about her efforts but deep within she's very strong she's very patient with my father thus they are still together at this time. God's grace!

Yesterday, I was conversing with these younger ladies about life. I know it's harder to grow up in this generation like everyone would say a thing. Particularly in getting into a relationship at a very young age. I just told them about what I learned from this life and also from the people around me. Like it isn't nice to waste our time, physical strength, and beauty in temporary relations and there are many things to learn around. We prayed together and I know God has greater plans in their lives.

After a while, I conversed with mature women while drinking coffee. They were giving life lessons about marriage. They said that marriage is a life journey with God and with your spouse. It's a long process of getting to know each other and accepting each other flaws while respecting each individuality. Thus, when you really desire to be married, you really need to pray harder while you're single and seek the Lord with all your heart.

They also said to enjoy the season of singlehood, serve while you're young and God knows what you really need. But when you started feeling alone, pour out your heart, be honest with the Lord and pray for the man that you think you will need and love for the rest of your life. Pray for a man you can truly respect, a man who is a good leader and loves the Lord so much that He can truly love you. Pray for a man you can help, that you might enrich his life and give it meaning. Pray for a man you can work with to exalt the Lord. Ask God for a man you can respect and love despite his flaws. Pray more fervently because you'll know whether he's the one when you already say yes at the altar. Never compromise your values and beliefs; you won't miss what He prepares for you when you walk in obedience. God is great and good to His children.

Whooooh, those people are talking about reality. I am glad, I have this kind of community. Having different perspectives in life but they all have in common that their marriage life is successful because God is at the center of their relationship. Acceptance and respect are vital to make it stronger.

I think it's too much for a person who didn't even try to be in a relationship. I know it's easier now because I know myself better than before but I think- I still don't know if I would be ready. There are many good guys out there but I wanted to wait for the right one. I believe in Him, he will come at the right time with clarity and peace. I don't know but I am at peace and safe with God. He knows me better than I know myself, I know He would provide discernment when he comes.

So if you're just like me, not having any man around, oh that's the most liberating season of your life. You're not left behind sissy. Do what ignites your soul, do your purpose, and don't wait for him, if he gives you confusion and not even proving that he's worthy of your yes. No response is a response. You're hard to find beloved so you're worth waiting for. The right man will try harder to win your heart. Your time is valuable. Make the most of it!

Love Him and seek Him more.

Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future. Many are plans in the mind of a man but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.

As a short story writer, I find myself drawn to the idea of community and its role in personal growth. The idea that it takes a community to grow as a person is an important one, and one that I often try to explore in my writing. The idea that we all have mentors and people who inspire us to be better is something that I believe is essential to our growth and development as individuals. The idea of seeking the Lord with all our heart and waiting for the right person to come into our lives is also something that I find very powerful and moving. Overall, I think this post highlights the importance of community and the role it plays in our personal growth, and it’s something that I hope to continue exploring in my writing.

Thanks for reading Sebastian! Exactly that’s my main point.
